In this latest podcast episode,
I talk about one of the most confounding issues of all times: DIETS. Who doesn’t cringe when they hear the word? Well, here I give you my take on food politics and what you could be doing to sustain yourself in a good and kind way.
There are a few good resources
mentioned herein if you’re interested in pursuing this further. And I hope you will pursue it further. First is Louise Hay’s little book You Can Heal Your Life. This might seem a little “out there” to some people, but Louise’s idea is that being overweight stems from a need for security and safety. And when you fill that need and feel safe and secure again, you lose weight. Plus there are so many other wonderful things in this little gem.
Then there’s my own book,
The Plain Maine Cookbook, which is filled with traditional, old-fashioned Maine recipes that are extremely budget-friendly and easy to prepare. This can get you on the road to eating like your ancestors did. You don’t need to go to a culinary school to cook good food. Your grandmother knew what she was doing.
And I should also mention
Gary Taubes’ book, Good Calories, Bad Calories. This is a must-read book if you are interested in the science of food and what is really happening when you eat. This book will always be on my bookshelf. It will change the way you think about food forever.
But whatever you do,
please be kind to yourself. You might not realize just how hard you can be on yourself. If you can show others kindness, surely you can show yourself some kindness.
I hope you enjoy this podcast!
